Windy weather continues (road closure on Maui due to tumbleweed [Salsola tragus])
"Blustery weather dumped a mass of tumbleweeds at least 6 feet wide from adjacent fields onto Holopuni Road on Tuesday...on Maui. The debris prompted officials to close Pulehu Road around midday Tuesday.... ...Pulehu was expected to remain closed until today while crews worked to clear the roadway. The tumbleweeds amazed Kula residents Neil Strumingher and Benj Jenkins, who made their way through the thorn-laden bushes...." (The Maui News, 31 January 2007)
