"[Oxalis corniculata] may represent a Polynesian introduction or an indigneous species, as it was collected by the first botanist to visit the Hawaiian Islands...in 1779.... Further support for pre-contact introduction is given by the discovery of seeds of this species in archaeological remains in the Mauna Kea adze quarry complex.... This site was abanconed prior to contact (1778)." (Wagner et al. 1999. Manual of flowering plants of Hawaii [rev. ed.]. p. 1002)
