Habit: vine
Description: "Glabrous or pubescent shrubby vine up to 3 m or more high; sap milky or merely turbid; leaves oblong, obovate to subrotundate, obtuse or shortly cordate at base, obtuse or cuspidate at tip, 3-9 cm long, 0.5-6 cm broad; inflorescences axillary or terminal, cymose, with usually few large showy flowers; calyx-lobes linear-lanceolate; corolla yellow, often marked red at level of anthers, 3.5-6.5 cm long; follicles rather woody, slightly curved but not reflexed, 8-20 cm long; pappus white" (Adams, 1972).
Habitat/ecology: "Common in fields, dunes and mangrove margins and also on fences, hedges and walls; sea level to 3000 feet; flowering and fruiting all the year" (Adams, 1972). "Climbing on shrubs in various coppices, on pine or saline flats and in rocky open soil" (Correll & Correll, 1982; p. 1144).
