International Piper auritum as a weed discussion forum
The purpose of the PIPERAURITUM-L list is to facilitate discussion and information exchange among parties interested in Piper auritum ("false kava") in Hawaii and other non-native habitats. (This species is reportedly invasive and detrimental to kava- ['awa-] producing areas, as it is evidently inferior in quality to Piper methystichum and can, if exported as true "kava", reduce the marketing value of true kava from places where this substitution is practiced. For more information on Piper auritum, refer to information on the PIER website at http://www.hear.org/pier/species/piper_auritum.htm.) [ PUBLIC ]
