The purpose of the HOIKE-COMMITTEE list is to provide a forum for information exchange among members of the Hoike o Haleakala curriculum steering committee. The Hoike o Haleakala curriculum is a comprehensive environmental education curriculum specific to Maui, Hawaii. Hoike o Haleakala is part of an innovative effort to educate local students to understand the effects of invasive alien species on biodiversity, agriculture, health, economy, and quality-of-life of an oceanic island ecosystem.
